//Feature Matrix

Everything we do. And everything we don't.

The complete DockMDM feature list for IT admins evaluating the product: what ships today, what is on the roadmap, and what we deliberately don't do. If a row says Available, it works in production right now.

Platform & device support

DockMDM manages dedicated, company-owned rugged Android devices. Nothing else — on purpose.

FeatureStatusNotes
Android (company-owned, fully managed)AvailableAgent runs as device owner via managed provisioning. Android is the only supported platform.
Zebra devices, first-classAvailableNative MX configuration, generated and validated against the MX schema, verified on real Zebra hardware.
Honeywell & Datalogic terminalsAvailableFull generic Android feature set (enrollment, apps, kiosk, telemetry, remote actions). Vendor-specific config layers are on the roadmap.
Non-GMS / AOSP devicesAvailableNo Google services required — the agent polls for work. Commands may arrive slightly slower than on GMS devices.
Deeper Honeywell / Datalogic integrationsRoadmapVendor-native configuration comparable to what Zebra gets via MX today.
Android Enterprise (AMAPI, managed Google Play, zero-touch)Not availableDockMDM is deliberately agent-based: no Google account, no Play dependency, works on AOSP. AMAPI-based management is under evaluation, not committed.
BYOD / work profilesNot availableDeliberate. DockMDM manages shared, dedicated devices — not employee-owned phones.
iOS / Windows / macOS / LinuxNot availableNo plans. DockMDM is Android-only, by design — one platform, done properly.

Enrollment & provisioning

FeatureStatusNotes
QR enrollment (managed provisioning)AvailableFactory-reset, scan the QR, done — agent installs as device owner in about two minutes.
Enrollment tokens (create, revoke, delete)AvailableMultiple concurrent tokens per org, each with its own QR.
Assign an enrollment QR to a device groupAvailableDevices enrolled with that QR join the group automatically.
Assign an enrollment QR to a recipeAvailableDevices enrolled with that QR are configured automatically on first check-in — zero-touch-style setup without Google zero-touch.
Google zero-touch enrollmentNot availableRequires Android Enterprise, which DockMDM doesn't use. QR + recipe assignment covers the same "unbox → ready" flow with one scan.

Device management & remote actions

FeatureStatusNotes
Device inventoryAvailableSearchable, sortable fleet list with customizable, persisted columns.
Device detail pageAvailableHardware, OS, health, apps, location, and job history for each device.
Rename / activate / deactivate devicesAvailable
Kiosk mode (single-app lock)AvailableLock a device to one app. Survives reboots; release it remotely.
Remote lockAvailable
Set / clear lock-screen passwordAvailableSet a password and lock (kicks the current user out), or clear it again.
RebootAvailable
Factory wipeAvailable
Ring deviceAvailableFind a misplaced terminal on the floor.
On-screen messageAvailablePush a message to the device screen.
Ping / reachability checkAvailable
Remote screen view & controlAvailableLive screen view and remote control from the device page. Control is opt-in per device.

Telemetry, location & health

FeatureStatusNotes
Battery level & temperatureAvailable
Storage, memory & uptimeAvailable
Wi-Fi & connectivity infoAvailable
OS version & hardware infoAvailable
Installed app inventoryAvailablePer-device package list, refreshable on demand.
Metrics historyAvailableHealth metrics are stored as a time series, not just a snapshot.
Automatic health alertsAvailableLow storage, high temperature, fast battery drain — raised automatically, auto-resolve when the condition clears.
One-shot device locateAvailable
Periodic location trackingAvailableConfigurable interval with an automatic stop time.
Live fleet mapAvailableAll device locations on one map.
Fleet insights dashboardAvailableFleet-wide health and status overview.
GeofencingRoadmapLocation tracking is already in place; geofence rules and alerts are planned.

Device groups

FeatureStatusNotes
Device groupsAvailableNamed groups with manual membership; a device can belong to many.
Built-in "All devices" groupAvailableA live group that always matches the whole fleet.
Group-targeted jobs, deployments & campaignsAvailableFan any job, app deploy, or recipe out to a group's current members.
Assigning enrollment QRs to groupsAvailableNew devices land in the right group the moment they enroll.
Assigning recipes to groupsAvailableRun a recipe against a group on demand or on a campaign schedule.
Dynamic groups by device attributesRoadmapRule-based membership (manufacturer, model, OS version…), resolved live. Groundwork is already in the data model.

App management

FeatureStatusNotes
App catalogAvailableUpload APKs; name, package, and version are parsed automatically. Multiple versions per app.
Silent installAvailableNo user interaction on the device — installs as device owner.
Silent uninstallAvailable
Launch an app remotelyAvailable
Clear app data remotelyAvailable
Constraint-aware deploymentAvailableHold a rollout until the device is charging or on unmetered Wi-Fi.
Per-device deployment progressAvailableWatch every device's install status in a bulk rollout.
Agent self-updateAvailableThe DockMDM agent updates itself over the air.
Managed Google PlayNot availablePart of Android Enterprise, which DockMDM doesn't use. The app catalog is APK-based.
OS / firmware updates (FOTA)AvailableDeploy OS and firmware updates across the fleet. You provide the firmware images under your own device-vendor license.

Configuration (Zebra MX & recipes)

FeatureStatusNotes
MX Builder ToolkitAvailableDescribe the device behavior in plain language; get a correct Zebra MX profile. Grounded in the real MX schema with validation — it can't invent parameters.
Apply MX profiles to devices & groupsAvailablePush any MX configuration as a job, at fleet scale.
Recipes (reusable config bundles)AvailableOrdered, multi-step sequences of jobs with per-step arguments and constraints. Define once, apply anywhere.
Recipes on enrollmentAvailableAttach a recipe to an enrollment QR and new devices configure themselves.
Android restriction profiles on non-Zebra devicesRoadmapOn Zebra, restrictions (disable camera, USB, etc.) ship today via MX profiles. A generic Android equivalent is planned.

Automation

FeatureStatusNotes
Job definitions libraryAvailableSave parameterized jobs once, reuse them across the fleet.
Bulk job enqueueAvailableSend a job to hundreds of devices with per-device status.
Scheduled campaignsAvailableRun a recipe against a group at a set time.
Recurring campaignsAvailableRepeat on a schedule, interpreted in your organization's timezone.
Per-job execution constraintsAvailableCharging-only, unmetered-network-only — enforced on the device.
Event-driven automation (triggers)RoadmapA "when X happens, do Y" rules engine is planned. Health alerts cover the monitoring side today.

AI & integrations

FeatureStatusNotes
MCP serverAvailableConnect Claude, Codex, or any MCP client to your fleet with OAuth. Query devices, enqueue jobs, build MX profiles — in plain language.
REST APIAvailableThe full admin surface, documented with Swagger at api.dockmdm.com/docs. Everything the dashboard does, the API does.

On-premises / self-hosted deploymentNot availableDockMDM is cloud-hosted SaaS.

// WHY WE PUBLISH THE "NOT AVAILABLE" COLUMN

Most MDM feature pages only list what exists. You find out what doesn't in month two of the rollout. We'd rather you disqualify us in five minutes than discover a gap after migrating 200 terminals — and if DockMDM fits, you'll know exactly what you're getting.

Something missing from this list entirely? Ask us — we'll give you a straight answer and add the row.

The free tier is the real product.

Every "Available" row above works on the free tier. Enroll 3 of your own devices and check our claims.
